8-week Meditation & Mindfulness for Beginners Course
Modern life can be extremely stressful. It’s easy to become overwhelmed by the drive to succeed and lose one’s way. When that happens people often discover that the same modern way of life that has driven them to the edge provides little by way of support to help them find their way back to peace and contentment.
Elizabeth’s Beginner Mindfulness & Meditation Course opens the door to greater understanding and contentment
Zen Meditation and Mindfulness is an ancient practice that enables the individual to transcend the artificial constructs that box them in and cultivate wellness through clarity and insight. Elizabeth’s 8-week Beginner Mindfulness & Meditation Course provides a way for the novice to build the foundations of their meditation practice through an understanding of the basic principles. She also runs an in-person 4-week Zen Compassion Plus Zen Meditation Course. All of Elizabeth’s meditation courses are held at Tonbridge Castle, in Kent.
Mindfulness and meditation practices provide a highly effective way to reduce stress. Best of all, you don’t have to be a Zen master to enjoy this benefit. Elizabeth’s Beginner Mindfulness & Meditation Course provides you with the basic tools you need to start down the road to greater overall health and wellbeing.
Learn to Cultivate Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the art of focusing attention on the immediate sensory experience as it unfolds around you. Mindfulness teaches us to be curious, open-minded and compassionate and to accept the present without fear or judgement.
The Beginner Mindfulness & Meditation Course will help you open your mind to a greater reality, the one that exists beyond the confines of our goal-orientated society. The benefits are many and include:
- Stress reduction
- Improved focus and mental clarity
- Enhanced self-awareness
- The ability to handle difficult emotions
- Greater empathy toward others
At Your Convenience
Mindfulness practice can be the doorway to a less stressful, more contented life. Elizabeth’s Beginner Mindfulness & Meditation Course leads you to the door and shows you how to open it. For your convenience, she provides the option of attending sessions either in person or online via Zoom.
How are these different to MBSR & MBCT courses?
(MBSR: Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction & MBCT: Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy)
Our courses are purely meditation and mindfulness based, with no admixtures of psychotherapy, and the orientation is teacher-student rather than therapist-client. Although our practices are being used in the NHS and other healthcare settings, we take a much wider view of wellbeing, believing that it’s more than simply alleviating psychological distress or stress reduction but also optimising each individual’s life experience and unleashing their maximum potential.
All of our courses are kept to small numbers (usually no more than 10 people per course), this enables group members to part-take and to share their experiences more easily during the online weekly sessions. You do not need to have any meditation experience or have an interest in Buddhism to join our courses.
About Elizabeth
Elizabeth is an ordained Lay Zen Buddhist who has received teachings in meditation and mindfulness over the course of 22 years. She has formally studied with her two teachers Rev Eliza Atkins, and Zen Master Daizan Roshi. Elizabeth continues to study with Daizan Roshi, the first Englishman to go to Japan and receive dharma transmissions in the Rinzai Zen tradition from his own Zen Master, Shinzan Roshi. She qualified as a Zen Meditation and Mindfulness teacher under Daizan’s guidance, and is a recognised Zenways Teacher. She continues to have a dedicated daily meditation practice herself having seen first-hand the profound benefits such a practice brings. Her sincere hope is to pass on the same teachings and wisdom she has been gifted by her own teachers in order to help others discover a calmer, more compassionate happier and peaceful life.
