Health and Wellbeing Course

Learn the art of Zen Meditation and Mindfulness to connect more deeply with your life, your relationships and yourself.

Western living focuses so much on goal driven achievements and material success, that our commitments and schedules can often leave us feeling like our lives are overwhelming. We may struggle to find a healthy work and life balance, and a considerable number of the western population now struggles with mental wellness conditions such as anxiety and depression.

Mindfulness and meditation practices have shown to be highly effective in stress reduction and management, so if you have been feeling under pressure at work or are finding everyday life particularly stressful at the moment then this course is perfect for you. Furthermore, the course is fully online which enables you to complete it from the comfort of your own home.

Elizabeth’s 8-week online Zen Meditation and Mindful Courses for Health and Wellbeing teach secular (non-religious) meditation and mindfulness practices rooted in Zen tradition, stretching back to the 9th century. Meditation for the purpose of boosting health and wellbeing is firmly grounding in the teachings of the great Zen masters.

Mindfulness techniques are scientifically researched approaches which enable us to cultivate clarity, insight, and understanding of our reactions to everyday stresses, as well as allowing us to simply get to know ourselves more deeply. Our hugely popular 8-week online course will provide you with the techniques, tools and encouragement to develop and nurture a meditation and mindfulness practice that can enrich and transform your life.

How are these different to MBSR & MBCT courses?

(MBSR: Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction & MBCT: Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy)

Our courses are purely meditation and mindfulness based, with no admixtures of psychotherapy, and the orientation is teacher-student rather than therapist-client. Although our practices are being used in the NHS and other healthcare settings, we take a much wider view of wellbeing, believing that it’s more than simply alleviating psychological distress or stress reduction but also optimising each individual’s life experience and unleashing their maximum potential.

All of our courses are kept to small numbers (usually no more than 10 people per course), this enables group members to part-take and to share their experiences more easily during the online weekly sessions.  You do not need to have any meditation experience or have an interest in Buddhism to join our courses.

Course overview

  • Eight 90 minute group sessions led by Elizabeth (via Zoom) once a week for 8 consecutive weeks.
  • 30 minutes daily practice at home for students.
  • Weekly digital handouts
  • Eight meditation practice audios to accompany and support your home practice
  • Ongoing online support from Elizabeth throughout the duration of the course.

About Elizabeth

Elizabeth is an ordained Lay Zen Buddhist who has received teachings in meditation and mindfulness over the course of 22 years. She has formally studied with her two teachers Rev Eliza Atkins, and Zen Master Daizan Roshi.  Elizabeth continues to study with Daizan Roshi, the first Englishman to go to Japan and receive dharma transmissions in the Rinzai Zen tradition from his own Zen Master Shinzan Roshi. She qualified as a Zen Meditation and Mindfulness teacher under Daizan’s guidance, and is a recognised Zenways Teacher.  She continues to have a dedicated daily meditation practice herself having seen first-hand the profound benefits such a practice brings.  Her sincere hope is to pass on the same teachings and wisdom she has been gifted by her own teachers in order to help others discover a calmer, more compassionate happier and peaceful life.

Dates for Elizabeth’s courses will be added throughout the year. If you have any further questions about any of our Meditation and Mindfulness courses, just drop Elizabeth a line at info@elizabethcaroline.co.uk, to book onto the next course please click here.
